The 3D printer is a real machine. Patch 1.0.0.2 says the Gunsmith start now includes its instruction note. The chip table below is one playthrough's list of fifteen recipes, and it is not the whole cookbook.
The Gunsmith pitch on the store page is weapons, mods, and security inspections. Patch 1.0.0.2 says that start's 3D printer now comes with its instruction note. The patch does not quote the note and does not list a shop price. A playthrough guide quotes the note as: 'Insert power source, printer chip and materials. Printer will work automatically overnight if requirements are met.' That sentence is unverified until you read the note in your own Gunsmith save. Other starts may still have to find the note.
How a print is described
The same guide says you open the machine, put a power source such as an Energy Cell in the left slot, put one chip in the chip slot, and put that chip's materials in the input. The chip stays. Materials are consumed. Output is there after the job finishes. A second write-up says a control-click sends an inventory item into the matching slot. Neither interaction is in a Steam post. Both are repeated often enough to try, and both stay unverified.
Do not assume every chip finishes in one night. The fifteen-chip guide's magazine example was ready the next morning. Another catalogue lists multi-night jobs for some prints, including a Liberator measured in nights of work. The two write-ups do not agree, so this page does not print a duration. Load the machine, sleep, and read the output tray.
Fifteen chips from one guide
Credit figures are that guide's base values for the chip and for each output. Filament's base value of 12 credits appears both there and on a community item page, so the spool price is the one number two catalogues share. Scrap Metal at 10 and Electronic Parts (Common) at 33 are only in the playthrough, so they stay unverified. The printer's own base value of 350 is the same single source. None of these are patch-note prices.
The whole chip table is unverified. A second catalogue names blade recipes this list does not include, so fifteen is not 'all recipes.'

Recipes this table leaves out
The community item page for 3D Printing Filament says the printer also makes a Box Cutter, a Kitchen Knife, a Hatchet, and a Meat Cleaver. The fifteen-chip guide does not list those chips. The recipes page already reprints one fully visible blade row, the Box Cutter, from that other catalogue: filament plus two scrap, three cutters, chip named 3D Printer Chip (x3 Box Cutter), listed at 28 credits. That row is unverified too. The 10mm magazine row on the recipes page also mentions a Metal Printer Module. The fifteen-chip guide's 10mm row does not. If your printer asks for a module, believe the machine.
Small water bottles are on both lists: one filament and the x6 Small Plastic Bottle chip, six bottles, 4 credits each in both write-ups. The recipes page also lists a Bottle Printer that makes the same bottle another way. Read the machine name before you load a chip.
Printing is not a permit
The Gunsmith start is the inspections start. A printed magazine is not a license to sell the gun it fits. Contraband and stolen stock still draw Security. The wanted poster and the smuggler-bay notes on the cheats page are the relevant systems, and neither one is a cheat code. Modules, where the playthrough mentions them, change power use, print speed, or quality. The module math is not in a patch note. Cranked to Eleven, the quality-module achievement, is explained on the achievements page and is a different machine goal.
Frequently asked questions
How does the 3D printer work in Probably Stolen?
Patch 1.0.0.2 says the Gunsmith printer includes an instruction note. A playthrough quotes that note: power, a printer chip, and materials, then the machine works overnight if the requirements are met.
How many 3D printer recipes are there?
Not confirmed. One guide lists 15 chips. Another catalogue also names blade recipes, including a Box Cutter, that the 15-chip list omits.
What do you feed the printer?
The 15-chip guide uses 3D Printing Filament, Scrap Metal, and Electronic Parts (Common). Filament at 12 credits is the only material price two catalogues share.
Does the chip get used up?
The playthrough says the chip stays in the slot and the materials are consumed. That is unverified.
Where is the 3D printer manual?
Patch 1.0.0.2 says the Gunsmith start's printer now comes with its instruction note. Other starts may still need to find that note in game.
