Probably Stolen Wanted Poster

The wanted poster is a Security list you keep in inventory and check against the face at the window. The launch post says the list has backstories. The credit amounts below are from community play, and only Lou's bounty is repeated widely enough to call cross-checked.

What the poster is

The 1.0 launch post says the wanted list has backstories, and names someone called Butcher. Lou is a named criminal in that same post. Official screenshots show a poster in the shop and a magnifier over a suspect photo. The game wants you to compare a face, not to trust the job label on the window.

A launch-week playthrough says Officer Lun of the Security Department is the last customer on day 1, and that he leaves the poster on the counter. It quotes him: notify Security with the alarm, they will take care of the rest, and a false report is fined. The day count and the quoted lines are that one playthrough. Officer Lun as a character is in the launch post. The Lou page is the separate story that starts if you report her.

How a report is described

Open the poster while the customer is still at the window and compare the face. The same playthrough says the control is a teal Call Security button under the counter, tooltip 'Call Security for assistance,' and that you hold it for about half a second. A click does nothing. After it registers, the tooltip changes to say the current customer has already been reported. Three officers arrive and take the person away. Those interface details are single-source. The existence of a counter alarm is repeated on more than one reporting guide.

A correct wanted report pays that person's bounty and adds 5 Security reputation. Two write-ups agree on the +5. The same playthrough says the arrested person's faction also moves: James Bailey cost Lower Levels reputation, Odin Haraldsson cost Revolution reputation, and reporting The Butcher gained Lower Levels reputation. Faction direction is per person, so do not assume every arrest helps or hurts the same group. The run summary's Security tab is said to count Wanted Criminals Caught out of 9.

Several wanted customers plead the first time you press the alarm, and that first press does not count. Press again if you still mean it. If you let them leave, a community page says the next morning's log names the wanted criminal who visited and nothing else happens. Both of those behaviors are community reports.

Bounties

Nine names, from the playthrough that printed the poster. Lou at 1,500 credits is the row other Lou guides also use. The other eight numbers are unverified until someone checks the poster on patch 1.0.0.6. The nine figures in that one article add up to 3,600 credits before perk modifiers. The Butcher's name is official. His 450 is not.

A wrong report

Two community pages agree on the penalty for reporting someone who is not wanted: 8 Security reputation, and a 50 credit fine if you have at least 100 credits. The detailed playthrough adds that one wrongful report is forgiven every five days, that the third slip warns you, and that the fourth warns that the next wrongful report gets you arrested. The forgiveness schedule and the arrest warning are single-source. The 8 and the 50 are the part to remember. If the face is not a match, do not hold the button.

Perks that change the payout

The same playthrough quotes two starting perks. Model Citizen costs a point, starts you at +30 Security, and pays 50% more for Wanted List reports. Convict gives a point, starts you at −30 Security, and pays 25% less. On those rates Lou's 1,500 becomes 2,250 or 1,125. The perk table under the bounties is unverified. A third perk in that guide, Known Snitch, stops anyone pictured on the poster from visiting. That claim is also single-source. Snitches Get Riches, the achievement for ten reports, is a different counter and lives on the achievements page.

Frequently asked questions

How do you use the wanted poster in Probably Stolen?

Keep the poster, compare it with the customer at the window, and call Security only when the face matches. A launch-week playthrough says you must hold the Call Security button.

Who gives you the wanted poster?

A playthrough says Officer Lun leaves it on day 1. The launch post names Officer Lun and the wanted list. The day number is unverified.

What is Lou's bounty?

1,500 credits in several community guides, before perk modifiers. Reporting her does not end her story. See the Lou page.

What happens if you report the wrong person?

Community pages agree on −8 Security reputation and a 50 credit fine when you have at least 100 credits.

How many people are on the poster?

The playthrough that printed the list has nine faces. That count matches its 'caught out of 9' summary line and is still unverified against a patch note.

Taken from the Steam store page, Steam news, or the publisher's launch announcement. The same claim appears in more than one independent community write-up, or a Steam achievement id matches those write-ups. Not an official patch note. Single community source, or sources disagree.
