Probably Stolen FAQ

Short answers for the questions that do not fit one system page. Patch notes are stated as fact. A single wiki or a forum thread stays unverified. This page is part of the Probably Stolen Wiki.

Steam Deck and controller support

Steam's category list for the game, checked 31 October 2026, includes a Mouse Only option and does not include a full-controller-support category. Keyboard binds do exist: the counter bell defaults to B, and patch 1.0.0.6 adds a second key that does what Esc does. That is the official input story.

Several guides say Valve rates the game Playable on Steam Deck, and that the cited report was from a pre-release build. This guide did not open Valve's compatibility report, so the badge stays unverified. On the Steam discussion 'Steam Deck Playability/Support' a player wrote, on 30 October 2026, that switching the Deck layout to WASD and mouse was the change they needed. That is one player's setup, not a studio layout.

Can you shoot the landlord?

No patch note through 1.0.0.6 says the landlord can or cannot be shot. On 29 October 2026 a Steam thread titled 'Why can't I shoot the landlord with the shotgun?' opened with a player who had tried and could not. Replies guessed that story characters are protected. The only shooting ban the studio has printed is Lou: patch 1.0.0.2 says she can no longer be shot during a visit. The landlord is the person you pay or buy out. The win the launch post describes is buying the store, which is on the endings page.

Smuggler bay

The bay is official. Patch 1.0.0.1 stopped an inspection confiscating items inside a Smuggler Bay that was in the trash, and inside a Mini Smuggler Bay kept behind the poster. Patch 1.0.0.5 stops a Smuggler Bay Mod from the Underground Exchange being thrown out if it sits in the trash overnight. Use a bay that is placed. Trash is the bug they fixed, not a tactic. More names are on the items page.

Mortgage

The launch post describes one win: buy the store from the landlord and read the stat screen. It does not mention a mortgage. Community endings pages describe a second win, paying off a loan-shark mortgage, and a loss if a missed payment cannot be covered by seized goods. Both rows are on the endings page and tagged unverified. If your game offers a mortgage, the contract on screen is the price.

Serpico, Arthur Lafleur, Georgio, and Secret Admirer

The launch post says Officer Lun and cadet Serpico have arcs that end, and that Georgio is in the game with no romance for now. It does not print their day counts or credit rewards. One community storyline puts Serpico's first visit on day 40 and a later food drop of 2,000 kcal at the Dumping Ground. That calendar is unverified.

Arthur Lafleur is a name on the wanted poster list, at 100 credits in the playthrough that printed the poster. That bounty is unverified. A second write-up says he can appear on day 3, that reporting him pays the bounty, and that hearing his plea and then dismissing him adds Revolution reputation. The plea bonus is not in a patch note.

Georgio's credit amounts are also unverified. One static review lists a 50-credit Dumping Ground escort and a later loan of a fraction of your cash, repaid at four times the amount. The launch post only confirms that he is present and that romance is not. A perk list from the same style of review includes Secret Admirer and says it tries to give a Galaxy Blend on day 2. A Workshop mod uses the same name. The perk line and the mod are different objects, and neither credit schedule is official.

Frequently asked questions

Does Probably Stolen support a controller?

Steam lists a Mouse Only option and does not list full controller support in the categories checked on 31 October 2026. The bell and a second Esc key can be bound. Deck layouts that map the trackpad to a mouse are player setups, not an official controller mode.

Can you play Probably Stolen on Steam Deck?

Guides say Valve marked a pre-release build Playable. This guide did not open that report, so the rating stays unverified. A Steam thread from 30 October 2026 suggests a WASD-and-mouse Deck layout.

Can you shoot the landlord in Probably Stolen?

Players on the Steam forum say the shotgun would not fire on the landlord. No patch note confirms a rule. The published way to deal with the landlord is to pay rent or buy the store.

How does the smuggler bay work?

It hides goods when the bay is placed where the game expects it. Patches 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.5 fixed cases where a bay or bay mod in the trash was confiscated or deleted. Trash is not a hiding spot.

Is the mortgage an ending?

Community guides treat paying off a mortgage as a second way to own the store. The launch post only describes buying the store. The mortgage row on the endings page is unverified.

Who is cadet Serpico?

A Security cadet named in the launch post, which says his arc ends. Day numbers and the 2,000 kcal food drop come from one community storyline and are unverified.

What is the Secret Admirer in Probably Stolen?

One perk list says Secret Admirer tries to deliver a Galaxy Blend on day 2. That claim is unverified. A Workshop upload uses the same name and is a mod, not the perk.

Taken from the Steam store page, Steam news, or the publisher's launch announcement. The same claim appears in more than one independent community write-up, or a Steam achievement id matches those write-ups. Not an official patch note. Single community source, or sources disagree.
